    BICH0100

    Sold by Natural SystemsMore information

Aphiline Veg - Vial for the biological control of more than 25 species of aphids that affect crops, including the hemp aphid (Phorodon cannabis).

Aphiline Veg - Vial contains the mummies of three natural predators of aphids: Aphelinus abdominalis, Aphidius colemani and Aphidius ervi, which help control 25 species of aphids, including the species of most common pests: Aphis gossypii, Macrosiphum euphorbiae and Myzus persicae.

Aphelinus abdominalis, is a small parasitic wasp adult individuals of the larger species of aphids, such as the green nightshade aphid, the potato aphid, the strawberry aphid or the hemp aphid, Phorodon cannabis.

Aphelinus lives longer and lays more eggs than other classes of aphid parasites. They do not go into diapause nor are they sensitive to photoperiod. It is a specialist in parasitizing adult aphids, such that a single Aphelinus wasp is capable of parasitizing about 300 aphids throughout its life.

Aphidius colemani, is a braconidae wasp that parasitizes aphids in all phases of their life cycle, which prevents that aphid colonies fully develop in such a way that their damaging effect on crops is reduced.

Aphidius ervi, is another braconid wasp that attacks and parasitizes large aphid species, although not as much as Aphelinus abdominalis. The difference is that while the latter only parasitizes adult aphid individuals, the Aphidius Ervi is capable of parasitizing both young and adult individuals.

Aphiline Veg - Vial is presented in a 125 mL bottle format. Contains enough mummies to produce 500 adult parasites for aphids.

    • Distribute the adults evenly around the area.
    • Recap the jar and store at greenhouse temperature until more mummies have hatched.
    • Repeat the distribution of the adults around the area until most of the adults are out of the mix.
    • Finish by placing the open jar in the greenhouse next to a plant in case more come out.
