Sold by Natural SystemsMore information

The Bonsai Pomice Substrate (3-6 mm) is a natural stone of volcanic origin, very porous, light and with a great Water retention capacity. A substrate that never gets waterlogged, and that provides unbeatable aeration of the root zone.

Format:

The latest trends in bonsai cultivation incorporate new materials to traditional mixtures of peat, garden soil, moss, etc. Materials such as akadama clay, pozzolan volcanic rock or pomice itself are increasingly demanded by bonsai creators.

La Pomice is characterized by being a rock of volcanic origin, very porous, light, and with a high capacity for drainage and water retention.

We all know how complicated it can be to water plants. But adding Bonsai Pomice de Meliflor to your substrate, your irrigations will last longer, so you will reduce work time and spend less on water and fertilizers.

Its ability to absorb water slowly (up to a period of ten days), in weight/volume ratios close to the unit, without risk of formation of pockets or puddles, in addition to an ICC (ion exchange, property of acquiring nutrients) and the absence of impurities makes our bonsai pumice substrate perfect for enhancing any substrate.

Advantages of using Pomice

  • Good porosity and ventilation.
  • Optimal retention of nutrients and water.
  • We avoid the contraction and expansion of the substrate, which can sometimes cause root suffocation in conventional substrates.
  • A perfect anchorage and development of the root system.
