Boost your bonsai's growth with a professional-quality substrate: Akadama Ibaraki Double Red Line (5-8 mm). This 14-liter bag contains selected coarse grains of 5 to 8 mm, the preferred grain size of expert growers for a perfect balance between drainage and moisture retention. Its reddish hue not only enhances the surface of the substrate but also reveals its Japanese clay origin, a guarantee of tradition and effectiveness in bonsai cultivation.

Akadama Ibaraki is a slightly acidic clay soil (pH between 6.5 and 6.9), ideal for most bonsai species. Its granular structure allows optimal air circulation between the roots, essential for preventing waterlogging and promoting healthy and vigorous root development. Unlike other substrates, its natural firmness ensures that it does not decompose quickly over time, maintaining stable physical properties even after several seasons.

This substrate not only retains water adequately, but also absorbs and releases nutrients gradually, promoting balanced growth. Although it can be used alone, it is recommended to combine it with pumice or volcanic gravel to adjust moisture retention and drainage according to the needs of each species or climate. This versatility makes Akadama substrate an essential choice for demanding bonsai growers.

Before use, it is advisable to remove any fine dust that may accompany the granulometry using a 1 mm sieve. This precaution prevents drainage from being compromised from the first watering. With Akadama Ibaraki Double Red Line substrate, you can provide your bonsai with a stable, aerated, and fertile base that promotes their health, beauty, and longevity.
